The news is out: Trump has won. Let that sink in. feel whatever it is you need to fee right now—anger, disappointment, maybe even fear. But after that, we need to talk about what comes next, because we don’t have the luxury of despair. We knew that no matter the outcome, the real fight for justice would still be waiting for us the next day. And now, that fight got a liitle clearer.
Facing the Reality
Let’s not wste time with illusions: the next chapter won’t be easy. The structures that uphold white supremacy, systemic oppression, and violence didn’t go anywhere. They’ve been emboldened, and we know what that means for our communities. But we also know this: we have faced worse, and we have always fought back. We have the resilience of generations who never gave up, and we son’t start now.
Hope and Vigilance: Our Best Weapons
This isn’t just a call to stay hopeful—it’s a demand. Hope is more than a feeling; it’s an act of rebellion. It’s looking at a system designed to break us and say, Not today. Not ever. And vigilance? That’s our strategy. It’s staying informed, staying ready, and staying united even when it feels like the weight of the world is on our backs. We’ve been here before, and we know what to do. We organize, we protect each other, and we build power from the ground up.
This is not where it Ends
This election isn’t the end; it’s just the start of a new chapter of our work.
Change has never come from those sitting comfortably in power. It comes from us—those on the margins, those with nothing to lose but our chains. We will have to fight harder, push further, and demand more than ever. And we will do it. Not because it’s easy, not because we don’t get tired, but because we know what’s at stake. And we know that we, the people, always win in the end.
What do we do Now:
*Support the Work: Donate, volunteer, or amplify our messages. Your involvement is vital.
*Stay in the Fight: Join our community sessions, workshops, and teach-ins. Knowledge is power, and we need to be armed with it.
*Show Up for Each Other: Mutual aid, community defense, and support networks are more critical than ever. If you can give, give. If you need help, reach out.
*Use Your Voice: Keep talking, keep questioning, and keep challenging those who think they can serve you.
A Reminder for the Road
We are part of a story much larger than this election or the one before it. It’s the story of people who have faced impossible odds and found ways to overcome them. This is our legacy. We are the continuation of generations who refused to accept a world that denied their humanity. So we press on, not just because we must, but because we can.
We fight not just to survive but to build a world where we all thrive. And we’re not stopping here.
In solidarity and fierce hope,
Chas Moore, Founder/Organizing Director, Austin Justice Coalition
