Two Black Democratic Members Expelled for Protesting Gun Violence

Last night, Tennessee Republicans expelled two Black Democratic members of the State House for protesting gun violence just days after the devastating school shooting in Nashville. Their white colleague, who also took part in the protest, was not expelled.

The whole world is watching Tennessee today — Republicans may think they’ve won, but their fascism is only further radicalizing and awakening an earthquake of youth organizing, both in the South and across the nation.

Representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson are speaking out against GOP fascism, and we need to support them in this critical moment. Will you split a $6 contribution between Reps. Jones and Pearson right now to demonstrate solidarity with their brave actions calling for gun control?

Republicans are trying to scare students, Democratic representatives, and anyone who disagrees with them into silence.

But Gen Z voters will not be silenced — if you thought youth organizing was strong, just wait for what’s coming because our movement will continue to grow:

What’s happening in Tennessee is dangerous and undemocratic. Leaders like Justin Jones and Justin Pearson are leading the fight against gun violence and standing up to injustice, no matter the cost.

Donate now to stand with Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson against fascism in Tennessee.

In solidarity,

Team AOC

STAY INFORMED & TAKE ACTION

As capitalism fails, the only strategy the ruling class has is to turn us against each other by scapegoating narratives and pushing divisive politics. This is why we are a national source of information connected to a network of movement newspapers and publications. We represent the voices of those fighting for human rights and a world for people, not profits.
