This December 2023 marks the first anniversary of the Journey for Justice / Peregrinaje por la Justicia organized by Witness at the Border. Dozens of human and migrant rights activists from around the country set off on their Journey for Justice on December 3, 2022, in Brownsville, Texas, and ended their trek in San Ysidro, California, on December 18, 2022. The caravan went along along the entire length 2000 of the US-Mexico border.

The Journey was to honor the lives of migrants and asylum seekers who have suffered and especially those who have died at the U.S.-Mexico border. Up to October 2022, there were a record of 856 deaths. The Journey also meant to highlight the need for just and humane immigration legislation.
