Tribuno del Pueblo stands firmly with Minnesotans and condemns ICE’s actions of murdering yet another innocent protester. U.S. citizen Alex Pretti was viciously murdered by an untrained ICE agent who, instead of de-escalating the situation, reached for his gun and shot Alex Pretti, killing him. While the corporate media blames Alex for carrying a gun, he was exercising his legal right to conceal and carry a firearm in Minnesota. Not to mention, video evidence demonstrated that he had his phone in hand, not a gun. Kristi Noem and other Trump officials were quick to lie and try to justify his murder.Â
The same right-wingers who preach and fight for the Second Amendment have suddenly forgotten that even protestors have a right to carry a weapon. When the Trump administration celebrated Kyle Rittenhouse, who showed up at a protest with an AR-15 style rifle and killed two men and was let free, the same administration that pardoned 77 violent protesters who injured police officers and caused havoc in our nation’s capital, this reveals a government that applies freedom and justice selectively, depending on who is involved.
Alex Pretti was a 37-year-old man who stood up for what he believed in, recorded with his phone, was assisting a fellow protestor, and was murdered for it. ICE will continue hurting anyone who protests against them and is brave enough to face them. The US government will stand right behind them, spreading lies in their press conferences, twisting the truth by calling US citizens ‘domestic terrorists, thus giving more momentum for ICE to continue their abuses.  We live in a country where if you have a different opinion or go against the fascist practices that ICE is following, you deserve to be murdered.Â
Alex Pretti was 37, an ICU nurse working with veterans. His friends and family described him as someone who cared deeply about social justice issues; his parents, left heartbroken, urged the media to ‘please tell the truth about my son, he was a good man.’
