Thank you to the more than 175 people who joined our team outside the courtroom yesterday standing vigil for Lelo and his loved ones. Your unflagging support and solidarity demonstrate the power our communities have when standing against unjust institutions.
We organize against the unjust and violent detention of Lelo, and all the other farmworker leaders who are being targeted. We must be prepared to defend them. Lelo was first but we know there will be more attempts to stop farmworker leadership from organizing. The continued exploitation of farmworkers by industrial agriculture and immigration enforcement causes uncalculable harm to our communities. Farmworkers have the skills that keep food on our table, and the least we can do is ensure that they are safe from political attacks.
The team at C2C will continue to keep you updated as Lelo’s case continues. Thank you for your ongoing support; the championing of his story and his liberation from the chains of Homeland Security.
