Colonial Brutality and Resistance

Editor’s Note: The following poem was sent in by one of our readers, Manuel Barajas PhD.

Use violence/war because you can;
Censorship, because only your view matters;
Take all you can: land, resources, etc.;
Nail them to manageable, exploitable, and disposable labor;
Punish disobedience to authority;
Indoctrinate fantasies of supremacy about those in power
(e.g., chosen by God, by evolution, by culture/civilization, by all these).

Resistence.

The heart beats free,
The air fills my lungs.

My dreams traverse
worlds and universes.
I choose my path.

The parasitical values
rob, enslave, and kill.

Mutuality, respect, and equity
relate, raise, and liberate us
with health and love.

STAY INFORMED & TAKE ACTION

As capitalism fails, the only strategy the ruling class has is to turn us against each other by scapegoating narratives and pushing divisive politics. This is why we are a national source of information connected to a network of movement newspapers and publications. We represent the voices of those fighting for human rights and a world for people, not profits.
