Taxpayer Money Shouldn’t Fund Genocide.

The world has drastically changed within a matter of weeks as innocent lives have been taken, half of them being children. By the end of October, 1400 Israelis had been killed by Hamas fire, and around 10,000 Palestinians dead.

As bombings won’t stop raining down in Gaza, the world begins to wonder why the US  was among the 13 countries that voted against the UN resolution on the Israel-Hamas ‘truce.’  The United States needs to be held accountable for standing for peace yet continuing to fund more war.

Human rights are currently being violated as Israel is continuing their attacks on civilians in Gaza, with hospitals being targeted and necessities like water and electricity being turned off since October 11. Israel officials gave Palestinians 24 hours to evacuate south, but south to where? Escape routes were then bombed, and the world is watching a genocide happening right in front of them, with videos and photos being posted in real time.  About 10,000  Palestinians have been murdered so far in this war, between one-third and one-half being children. As of October 28th, the Israeli government has cut all communications and has left civilians isolated from the outside world. Three refugee camps have been bombed, as well as an ambulance, even when Israel has claimed it is only targeting Hamas.

THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD ARE FOR PEACE

We have seen protests globally, and the world is becoming even more divided as people scramble to figure out how to show support for both sides or even choose one. But if we ever want to see a future of peace for our children,  we cannot afford to let humanity be against one another. As we watch a genocide being committed in our lifetime, it is up to us to speak up for the innocent and rise up against years of terror against the people of Gaza. Thousands all over the world are rising against islamophobia and calling for a stop to the Palestinian genocide. Many members of the Jewish community have been in solidarity with the people of Palestine. In New York, the Jewish Voice for Peace organization shut down the Grand Central station, demanding a ceasefire and protesting the Israeli army’s genocide of 9,700 since October 6th. 500 Jewish protestors staged a sit-in at the Statue of Liberty on November 6th by the same group.

JEWS IN SOLIDARITY WITH PALESTINE

A United States official, Josh Paul, resigned last month, protesting the continued armed sales to Israel that the United States has been supplying. He spoke with Democracy Now! On how the US support for Israel is “destructive” and that innocent civilians are dying directly because of it.

“Many of us are mourning our Israeli and Palestinian friends and loved ones,” the group continued. “We are in pain and grief, trying to process a week of horrific violence that has left so many that we know injured, traumatized, kidnapped, or killed.”

“But we refuse to let our grief be weaponized to justify the murder of more Palestinians,” JVP added. “As American Jews, we demand a cease-fire now. No genocide in our name.”

Here are some of President Joe Biden’s recent tweets on the ongoing Israel-Gaza war

President Joe Biden has pledged full support behind Israeli rulers even when the Israeli people have come against the bombardment of the Palestinians in Gaza. There’s a trending tag on x app (formerly known as Twitter) That goes #GenocideJoe as he is currently using the US taxpayer’s money to fund this war.

Who are the winners and losers in the Israel-Gaza War

There’s no doubt that the working people are the losers in this war, both Israelis and Palestinians. And the winners are the corporations.

Just look at the facts:

Total Pentagon expenditures for all purposes since Fiscal Year 2001 have topped $14.1 trillion (measured in 2021 dollars). One-quarter to one-third of all Pentagon contracts in recent years have gone to just five significant weapons contractors: Lockheed Martin, Boeing, General Dynamics, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman. THIS IS ABOUT $47 TO $35 TRILLION where tax payers money is going to.

Shameful!

People in the United States and the world are demanding that the United States use its superpower nation status to demand Israel a ceasefire and to have fundamental utilities restored to the city of Gaza.

Our newspaper’s mission statement is clear, ” … representing the voices of millions of everyday people who are fighting for human rights and a world for people, not profits.”

Therefore, El Tribuno Del Pueblo unites with the demand: a ceasefire now! Our tax money should not be for funding a genocide.
